What a time we had!!

Oh what a time we had! The first teaching on The Four Pillars of a Man of God, "Faith" by Minister Charles Johnson, was outstanding! We learned that faith is now based on what is not seen and what is hoped for, whereas in old testament times it was based on what was seen (pillar of fire, and a cloud, burning bush, etc.) He brought a new light and understanding to Hebrews 11:1.

As men, we must operate in faith as we lead our families and others to Christ and walking in this walk of faith. If we truly want to please God with our lives, we must live faith and not simply talk about faith.

Some things we learned:
- Faith, in its form is hope
- Hope compel you to move forward
- Without faith it is impossible to please God, which is why the world in its current state never please God. Through morality standards, we live faithlessly.
- Hope comples you to not give up and to stay at the Lord's feet.
- God gives us faith building exercises. This is the same as building muscles in a gym.

Some points made by those in attendance.
- How will your son grow if his head (father) is not? - Aaron Johnson, II
- A loss of focus equals a loss of life. - James Parris
- Faith isn't a whole lot of anything, it's simply believing. - Quinnell Wilder
- Faith is whatever you believe; be it good, or bad. - Mike Moody
- If we believe why do we not have a Word for people? - Mike Moody
- Use your Sword more. - Scott Harris
- Like working out you may not always see the results right away. It's a building process. - I don't remember who said it.

I will have the note from Min. Johnson's lesson posted as soon as I receive the text from him.

We also had an excellent turn-out. We had four visitors come out too. Minister Rayfield Boyd, Matt Olson, Myron Addison, & Bro. Tripp's brother-in-law (I'll get his name later and post it).

Excellent stuff on faith!!! Let me ask you something though, how does one strenghten his faith when it seems that there is a period of time when God is silent and could you back this up with some scriptural references thanks

Thank you for your comment and question. For starters, when we say we're trusting in God (or having faith), we're saying God, I'll wait for your guidance, leading or instruction. If you're told that K-Mart is down the street two blocks on the right, you don't need as much faith as when you're just told "stay on this street, you can't miss it". Sometimes when we're waiting on God, we get tired of going down that street He told us to travel and feel like He's "quiet" when in actuality, His direction(s) for our lives haven't changed. "Keep doing you were told, you can't miss it".

Remember, Heb 11:1? {AMP} NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

It's much more than simply asking and receiving, but, trusting and waiting on the command and guidance of the Lord. Until He tells us to change course or to do something different, we're to continue with what He instructed us to do.

Many times we're too anxious for God's operating speed. We want an answer now because we (humans) have place a time constraint on when something needs to be done or when we need/want an answer and we expect God to comply with that time constraint. Take for example the Wedding Feast in John chapter 2, the servants could have gone to the market and bought wine, but as they were instructed to wait (WAIT) on Jesus' command, they were able to not only witness and miracle, but the result was a better wine than money could buy.

Finally, the Word of God says in Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Much of the time, we come up short on our studying and reading of the Word of God. If we want faith, we need to feet our faith mechanism that which it can feed upon "The Word". We pray and ask, we go to church (sometimes), we talk to people, but, do we read, meditate, and find our situation in the Word. If you need an increase in your level of faith for your healing, you find scripture that supports it (Isaiah 53 for ex.). If you need encouragement about your blessings you can use Deut. 28:6.

I hope this helps. I appreciate your comments and your question. Please continue to do so, I'm certain someone reading this will be encouraged.

Be blessed.
